    MCS replacement

Looking for a replacement to the MCS - requirements are as follows:

    1) Must sound nice so I think must be petrol and must be 6 cyl
    2) Must be as fast or faster
    3) Must be in the €750 range for car tax
    4) Must be a few years newer
    5) Must be bigger - need a bit more leg and boot space for the kids
    6) Ideally cannot have higher mileage than the MCS currently has
    7) Ideally coupe or cab

I've been looking in the UK as 6 cyl petrol cars in my budget are few and far between on these shores.

Last week found a 2014 428i in the UK at what seemed like very good money, lined up the RAC to look at it but subsequently found out it was Cat S

Today came across a 2009 E93 330i at decent money and the VRT is small so considering having RAC check it out but as I've never driven one I'm looking for feedback - can definitely sound good with a decent exhaust and I've always wanted a cab and I've read they are pretty quick but at the end of the day I've still never driven one.

Doesnt the E93 fall into a much higher tax bracket than the E92 due to the extra weight!!??

Yep - an annual tax bill of €2,350 will soften your cough....

This low mile 640i would also fit the bill if within budget...

How about this 650i Convertible ?
Low miles and the all important valve stem oil seals job done ! Of course the tax is the full banana €1809 but you're here for a good time, not a long time....

    You don't mention budget.

428i won't meet your need for cylinders - 4 pot.

The car jumping out at me that meets your criteria would be an M135i - 3 or (more likely) 5 door, right road tax category, 6 pot, a bit bigger than the MINI, etc. They've been around since 2012 so plenty of choice to match a range of budget. If you really need a coupe an M235i would just scrape in under the CO2 limit for €750 road tax.

Based on the specs on the cars I saw online co2 is 187 so €750 for tax - I guess I need to confirm that.

Good point on budget - that’s important - currently anything up to €18k but if I can’t find anything I might consider extending it -

Only looked at the 428 cause it was cheap - then I found out why Doesn’t have to be a coupe but I’ve always had this itch for a cab - m135i might be an option - off to check them out now
