    E34 restoration

    Hello....
Can anyone recommend someone or a garage for a restoration project. I'm looking to restore a e34. Thanks.

What level of work are you looking for? To me a restoration is a full nut and bolt rebuild with the car stripped to a shell. Is it some mild body, paint and mechanical work that you need and what part of the country?

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply.
A full nut and bolt restoration, stripped down to the shell. I am based in Mayo but I am willing to travel anywhere in Ireland, and if I don't find anyone that satisfies, I'll travel to the uk

Classic Carreras in Limerick come highly recommended. They did a 2002 recently to an insane level.

I don't see either Dave or Aivis wanting to take on a nut and bolt restoration.

Classic Carreras seem to be doing amazing work - didn't think they'd take on anything other than Porsches. Munich Legends do full on restos as well - sound like price isn't an issue, so they'd probably where I'd go if I were in a similar scenario.

Hi kdevitt, thanks for the reply.
Yes Munich legends would be a good choice as I wanted to swap out the engine, but if I found someone here I would like to call in and check out the work as the project went on. Too keep an eye on the work...

I guess part of the decision process would be what quality of restoration and to what level of detail you would want also. Depending on the model E34 you have you may need someone with more specific experience over a more generalised restoration company/person. For example if it was an M5 you could need someone with experience of the suspension system and engine.

Fahy's garage in Oranmore, Galway may take it on. I know of an E39 M5 (LHD) that they're currently doing a complete headlight to taillight restoration on (not necessarily a complete nut & bolt resto).

As said, what model E34 is it and what kind of budget do you have in mind ?
In many cases, it may make sense to sell what you have and buy one in an already completed state (M5 in already decent condition being the possible exception).....
