I'll refer back to my post earlier in this thread - how much strip mining is going to have to be done now to get all of the lithium and other elements for this massive increase of battery production out of the ground ?

How are we also going to generate the massive increase of electricity to keep the country mobile ?

Only way I can see it being viable is nuclear power, will cut CO2 production and supply a baseline for renewable energy. Or as we are going to build a powerline to France, use their nuclear power

You're quite correct D - I did of course mean classic insurance - the motor tax will probably be €5,600 per annum by then....

Might as well, we're interconnected with the welsh anyway - a few atom splitters o'er there, an auld reprocessing plant (thorp) and all to top it off.

new tesla model 3s arriving in July / august, whats not to like above EV's, yeah I know they use precious metals in their battery's but all cars use energy etc to manufacture, but 0-100 MPH in 8 seconds & will compete with an 2016 M5 up to about 140mph and run them for a fraction of a petrol car, I think they're the way forward, performance and being eco friendly!!

From a performance car perspective, the feel, the sound, the smell, the vibration, the mechanical nature of gearchanges, the sense of drama - better known as SOUL

Having a 6/8 cylider petrol engine on song, on the right road and at the right time when it all flows/comes together is where it's at....

For sure the Tesla Model S is seriously fast and handles great, as will the new 3s I'm sure, but they're just lacking in character - human emotions are being removed from the driving experience.

    I'm out.

Totally agree with you on the sound & feel, I've an e30 325i in my garage for that & another German rwd on the way,
but as a modern performance tool that is unbelievably quick and great handling as an everyday day car a tesla model 3 will be great. track mode is meant to be astounding fun
.I'll let you know about the character etc in due course, but I think if they're going to force Evs upon us you might as well drive a model 3
rather than a fecking leaf or zoe
