Very true - do we know if the G30's are immune from chain failure now that average mileages are getting on ? A work colleage has a G30 520D (having had the mickey mouse BMW service intervals to date) with over 90,000 miles up and he's sweating a bit.
The F10's as we now know certainly aren't immune and like the E60, I wouldn't buy one without the chain done at this stage (ar at least budget for it to be done) !

Not sure if there is different information coming from the ground, but the suggestions are that the B47 engine (arrived in the F10 around mid 2014 and other ranges over the following 12 months or so) is fairly safe as far as the chains are concerned. There are plenty of leggy ones around at this stage and I haven't heard of any with this issue.
