    Headlamp Restoration

The headlamps on the E60 are fairly pitted (especially at the top, where it meets the front wings and could benefit from some TLC).
Has anyone bought any of the restoration kits that are available and if so, noticed any improvement?
The last thing I want is to make a balls of it during the sanding process. Also, would need some sort of sealant afterwards to protect from UV rays etc. Thanks!

I've done it on a few cars, I have the polish for plastic and glass headlights. Definite improvement - you do need to use some sealant alight afterwards.

Thanks Ken, trying to source the right kit now. 3M seems to be the number 1 product but it doesn't come with sealant. Did you wet sand by hand or did you use a drill with an attachment?

On the Porsche headlights I used a drill with an attachment - there was no need for sanding them. They're plastic too, so I didn't fancy leaving myself putting too much heat into them trying to get them back to a decent state. Just did the E30 headlights, which are glass, and I needed to wetsand some hazing first.

So, I decided to tackle the passenger side first and removed it from the car altogether. Lots of plastic fading at the top, which was the worst and some pitting across the face of the lens.
I bought the Autoglym headlight restoration kit which comes with the drill attachment, assortment of pads and the polish. There is definitely a noticeable improvement but it’s not perfect. I was very careful during the sanding process to the point that I ditched the drill attachment and wet sanded by hand. I should have gone harder but I’ll know for the other side.
