I had the same problem recently. I just paid the 50 and joined the BMW Car club, the magazines are good and you get a lovely little sticker for your window.

I was never asked anything about being part of a car club for mine. I'm insured through Auotline. Are they saying it's a requirement or do you just get a discount or something?
