N57 timing chain failures and repairs

Another N57 .... Luckily this X6 came right at the time ...
Top chain was very badly stretched, as it got longer as should be ,tensioners working limits was not enough ,tensioner was fully out, chain still was too lose ,this made, some ,usual chain grinding- rattling noise between 1k - 2k revs .This made owner to worry about engines condition and he called in to us for opinnion ,we comfirmed failure and did all the work to get this nice car back on the road.
Full timing chain kit , gakets, washers ,bolts and engine service kit with fresh oil and filters.Mileage 154k km .

Yes it is ,tensioner has it limits as well, so it gets so bad , tensioner literally broke as oil pressure pushes it out ,as much as possible to get chain tight . Unfortunately 6 cylinder engines they don’t really make lot noise , def not as much as 4 cylinder ones , so most people didn’t notice big difference ,once chain gets too loose and noisy .

Is it that the 6 cylinder chains don't stretch/break as often or simply because there's not as many of them around that we don't hear about them as much as the 4 cylinder N47 shitstorm ?

They do brake , same as N47 , just not so many cars ,they are later make as well , they do fail N57 from 80k Mls , same as N47 . Very very common , in Europe we’ll known fault , here as well , just not lot garages talk about this .... btw on DD few X5 2013 or so make , with already replaced chains under 100k Mls
