    Question E60 M-Sport

Need a car for herself (read: The M3 is a great daily but I really need something I could park in supermarket car parks - and I'm using this as an excuse to get another car I like)

Have a thing for e60s recently, so I think one will do nicely. Really early stages of looking so may end up going a different route but nice to know what's out there.

    Musts:
    - M-Sport (no compromise)
    - Auto (no compromise)
    - 2008+ (chaaaaape taaax laaaaaad)
    - Diesel - any engine really - if 2.0 chain must be done (are chains a real concern on the 6 pots?)
    - Good general condition (most of the cars on donedeal look like they're actually falling apart, which is quite an impressive thing to achieve in still photos!)

    Nice to have:
    - Style 172 wheels (Spiders) or anything other than MV2s
    - Heated seats
    - Sunroof
    - Carbon black / Space grey

Open to thoughts, warnings, feedback... you can also change my mind. If you make a solid case for an e60 M5 somehow making more sense, backed by literally any kind of questionable man maths - I'll hear you out there will be no judgement here!

A friend of mine has a 2007 520d auto in silver. If the 2007 isn’t a deal breaker I could ask him if he’d sell.

As a family car the X3 is absolutely brilliant:

I’d say get an estate or SUV too just for the ease of carrying around the tons of stuff that small people come with.

Depending on budget I’d look at a F11, early F31 or as Andy suggests the X3 too

You do realise Peter only has one child? The E60 is the perfect size for 2 kids, I still have loads of room in mine, the boot is massive!

Thanks for the feedback folks, I do fancy an e60 (or e61) in particular, but no interest in ropey examples or project cars. If nothing surfaces I’ll consider other things. Budget is reasonably flexible but the point is to have something practical I won’t obsess about or worry about her kerbing the wheels or dinging the doors when she drives it.

If herself wants to see an X3 at any stage, you could call out.
