Holy Grail Of Bluetooth Streaming For Older Models

Has anyone here fitted one of these to their older BMW? I’m impressed by the apparent functionality and think I’ll get one for the 7 and one for the M3. Before I do I’d love to hear from anyone who has already gotten one.

Haven’t used that but on recommendation of Mr Healy I used this guy for the E46 radio. Great service.

That looks the business, but it would kill me to hand out 215 dollars for something that more than likely costs no more than 15€ to produce

In fairness given the amount of work that went into it you have to agree that $215 dollars is cheap for the functionality it provides. We can’t always look at the price of the raw materials and say that’s what something is worth. If that were the case an iPhone would cost €50 and a Picasso about €75.

Imagine what BMW would charge for a similar control unit?

I have it in my e46 convertible.
I have only driven e46 once since I fitted it and can't really say what I think of it.
Sound quality seemed good and steering wheel controls worked ok.
When car ignition is turned off, music is paused and when ignition is turned back on, it continues.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.
Once restrictions are eased off, you are welcome to check the unit out yourself.

That’s good to hear. Was it really easy to fit?

I have had both Dice and Intravee interfaces. Both glitchy and crap to be honest. I recently purchased a cheaper Bluetooth thing for €40 or so that Alanmcgrath40 on here recommended.

I’ve come to the conclusion that as much as I love the look of the late 90’s early noughties bmw ICE, it no longer provides the functionality I have come to expect.

I can see myself spending some money on Chinese units with CarPlay soon to upgrade from glitchy interfaces.

What do you think of the Bluetooth transmitter smokey? Granted its not perfect and would be nice if you could take calls but for the money it's pretty good and the music quality is more than enough for my tone deaf ears!

It hasn’t arrived yet but I’m looking forward to trying it. It will mean I can leave the BT transmitter in one car then and the e46 is all buttoned up

    Very easy to fit.
It replaces cd changer and ULF/TCU module.
Cd changer harness plugs directly in to bluebus unit.
To use original microphone, you need to let them know what type of plug you have for phone (DB25 or 54pin) and they can suppy an adapter cable.
After fitting it just connect your phone and its done.
