    New tyres

So failed the NCT this morning on a worn rear tyre with the cord showing. Obviously need to replace it and get the alignment sorted but am assuming the right thing to do is to replace both rears any opinions?

Tyre size is 265/30 ZR19 and there are Michellin Pilot Super Sports all round. What tyre would you recommend and is there a tyre shop in Dublin that you swear by?

What is the other tyre like? I think you would be best to replace the rears now with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (successor to the Super Sports). I would recommend using Discount Tyres in Blanchardstown. They are also doing an offer on Michelin tyres at the moment and have the alignment equipment.

I put a full set of Michelin PS4S on my M3 last year. I am very happy with them plenty of grip. They're not the quietest tyre but they're definitely quieter than the continental contact 6 tyres that we're on the car when I bought it. But those tyres were over 6 years old and down to the limit so that might have exaggerated the road noise.

I think the full set was around €820 but if you use the bellow link and buy from one of the listed suppliers you get €115 back on a prepaid mastercard, which takes a bit of the sting out of it.

    New tyres

    Phoenix Tyres on Jones’ Rd.

I’d go with Michelin’s or ContiSportContacts

Where did you get them and did that price include fitting? That doesn’t sound too bad at all if so. Cheers for the link too, very handy.

Banks tyres in Cork, Just checked the receipt and it was €839 fitted. There was no disposal fee as they where new rims. Still a pretty good price. I remember at the time I was looking I could get them fitted cheaper through blackcircles but they didn't qualify for the discount and I don't think they are suppling here any more since brexit.

Sorry looks like that particular offer might be over since end of April. But I'd keep an eye on it because I used it last summer so I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the month if it changed from spring offer to summer offer. Or else I'd talk to garage they might be able to sort something out.

You wouldn’t believe how hard it had been to get the PS4S’s

Tried a tonne of places and nobody could get them even direct from Michelin. Have found a really helpful tyre shop that are sourcing them in a rather unorthodox way and if it works out I’ll let you know.
