    Talking

    I'm officially addicted to drifting...

No.. I'm NOT about to get a rwd banger, cover it in stickers and cable ties, rip the bumpers off and fit a massive wing on it... But I get it!

I recently started drift karting - the first time I found out such a thing even existed - and I've been hooked ever since, I've been back countless times, improved my best lap by over 5 seconds, and even got my "Black Card".. a sort of license that allows me to drive the "Pro" 390cc karts they have... (rather than their standard 270cc) And let me tell you... There's just nothing like it! At first I was equally frustrated as I was excited because I wasn't instantly amazing... ( how could I not be like?? :P ) But with some practice I was carrying speed through corners, sticking perfectly to the lines as I drifted AROUND the bends with full on opposite lock, gliding from one turn to the next with smooth transitions, and also going sideways on the more difficult/straighter parts of the track... I progressively started getting into a rhythm.. a flow.. it was just bliss! It's like everything went quiet and I could just hear opera music as I drifted around the track ha

Last time I had anywhere near this much fun was the track day training in Mondello last year... and it suddenly hit me... I'm never as happy or excited about anything as I am driving something interesting around some sort of track... I started looking up track days and experiences I could do here in Auckland but my bubble burst when I found out how pricey they are at around ~ $1000 for a few hours... It includes using their own cars but still...... Suddenly $79 for 45 mins of drift karting seems like a bargain..

I wonder why there's nothing similar in Ireland? I'm sure there'd be more than enough interest in it!

Apologies if I've rambled on a bit... But if I can't ramble about motoring related stuff here....

Just finished editing a video from our trip to White Island - New Zealand's most active volcano, it was a pretty special experience and the next best thing to going to another planet! For anyone that's interested, here it is:

    Great video!
How much was the ferry trip over?
I would like to take a trip over next time we are in NZ.

Thanks man, it took ages to make!

The island is actually private and only one company is allowed to do the tour, so it's pretty pricey - $219 by boat or I think around $800 by helicopter. Not sure I could ever stomach paying for the helicopter tour but going over by boat was well worth it, you'll more than likely get to see all kinds of sea life along the way too.

Where have you been in NZ? If you've been to Rotorua, it's a bit similar but it's a very different atmosphere being on an actual volcano in the middle of the ocean rather than in Rotorua's centre or Waiotapu's Geo Thermal Wonderland etc

Ah no way! What possessed you to leave this wonderful place?! I've already decided it's the best country in the world and I haven't even been to the South Island yet!
