Thread: Oil for E39 M5?

  1. #1

    Oil for E39 M5?

I'm going to change the oil in the Big Girl, well, just because. Even though it has only a few thousand done.
There seems to be a lot of debate on the Web over whether TWS 10W60 is still the one to use, any one here any thoughts? obviously I'm not concerned with long life intervals.

I'd stick with what the M Performance guru's of Bavaria specified if it were me. My 2p.

Thing is, that's 15 years since the handbook was written.

I've just changed over to Millers Nanodrive CFS 10w-60 NT on my M3. I think the ester based oils are supposed to have much better properties.

Again not an M5, but on my M3 I switched to Mobil 1 Motorsport Formula based on feedback from here and over on M3cutters.

Another suggestion was Motul 8100 10w60, by Tom in Fahys in Oranmore. I've Millers CFS in at the moment.
    How's it sound on Mobil?

Opie oils have a deal on millers at the moment. They also do 20L drums. A friend reckoned it quietened down his 3.0 m3 big time, I've also seen mobil recommended. I know one thing, I won't be using castrol again!
