Nice one Tristan - I failed on corroded brake pipes (rear) they are fine in reality as I painted them regularly with waxoil, but the reg plate is against these girls now and they don't get the benefit of the doubt anymore.
Next weekend I'll be replacing them, dropping exhaust, prop and tank and I'm replacing them with Kunifer lines, braided stainless hose all round - should sharpen up the pedal a bit.

I'll be interested to hear what difference the braided lines make

Right, all buttoned up again tonight - there is a small difference if I'm honest, and to tell the truth I'm not sure if it's come from fresh fluid or the braided lines. It's much easier to get the ABS to kick in anyway or it seems that way - seems like a better or sharper bite but it could all be in my head - happy wit the job but don;t see a big difference over OEM if I'm honest.

BTW, it's on ATE OE pads and ATE discs.

I decided to do another not totally necessary upgrade...

I used an e60 boot release with integrated camera, rather than the E39 variant which is in the number plate light, and to my eyes is somewhat ungainly.

Not completely. I made my own looms to connect to the TV module, for the co-ax and to switch it on in reverse. All neatly hidden out of sight.

Had The Big Girl out yesterday for the Autostadt "TedRun" around Lough Derg, taking in 130 ish miles. Galway, Clare, Limerick, Tipp and Offaly. It got all of its capabilities used several times.... I love it!
It really seems to be a fantastic all rounder.

Aaaaaaannnddd... Boom. The tax ran out.

Back into the heated storage now for the winter.

Depending on how I get on with my new shed, rally car and Mk2 GTI projects, some relatively big stuff ahead for the Big Girl. Whether or not it all gets done before the summer, I couldn't honestly say.

    1. New front tyres. Current ones are Korean ditchfinders, unbelievably bad, and terrifying in the wet.

    2. That effing Vanos rattle. Has to be done, before I tax the car again, end of.

    3. Timing chain guides, and chains if necessary.

    4. Big end bearings for the crank.

No doubt some of that will unearth other bits needing attention like say perished hoses and the like.
Better start saving.... But it'll be worth it.
'Cos, as always, Big Girls need lovin' too.
