Recall for fraying my battery cable

I thought someone might have flagged this latest recall in this section:

    https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2018...55-bmw-recall/

    1 Series, 3 Series, X1 Series and Z4.

The cars being recalled were made between 2007 and 2011 and include both petrol and diesel models.

The BMW can suffer an electrical fault, causing its brake lights to fail and resulting in the vehicle stalling.

BMW are supposed to make contact but I'd say a call to the Customer Service no. for BMW Ireland with the VIN number would be the better way to check.

To my knowledge the airbag recall that was done (following Takata scandal) for my e46 330Ci a few years ago was extended to include the drivers bag and I've heard that e39's may also be affected. I've heard nothing since the first recall, so I'd be inclined not to wait on this latest recall since its a safety issue. Now that I've roused the e39 for a while I'll be checking that one further.

    just contact your local dealer
give them the reg or chassis number and we can tell you there and then if your car is due the recall

theres close to 12,000 cars in Ireland needing the mod and that's not including the uk imports

Is this the large gauge cable under the glovebox?

Surely that’s been common knowledge for a number of years? There’s been a modified part for it anyway....
