    520d Transmission Woes

    Hi all

The 520d had a new clutch and flywheel in June and has done probably 500 miles since then. The bite point in the clutch was really low, and it was decided a new clutch and flywheel would sort it.

The other day the car has started to kind of bang going from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd gears....doesn't seem to happen going into other gears. Bite point is still nearly at the floor, and the car also seems to want to drop revs and slow down very quickly. When you let of the accelerator, the rev needle drops down and comes back up, sort of like the car is braking. I thought it could be a sticking caliper, but doesn't seem to be.

Any ideas on what might be the cause? I know it's hard to say...it's gone back to the dealer, but it'd be good to have an idea of the cause.

Was it functioning OK since the clutch and flywheel were replaced, until now at least, and did the issue start suddenly, or gradually?

I'd wonder if you have a clutch fluid leak or something along the lines of a Master Cylinder issue?

Thanks for the reply. I think it's been gradual, but I've driven it so little since it had the new clutch that it's hard to say.

The car still drives ok when it gets up to speed, but moving off from 1st to 2nd and then to 3rd gears it's very difficult to drive...hard to get it into those gears too
