    Height for hire

I want to paint the front of the house, clear the baby trees out from the gutters etc. Anyone have any recommendations for cheap height for hire type places? Am not overly keen on using a normal ladder - had a neighbour die a few years back after falling backwards off one. Thinking of scissor lift type things - but not sure if these are generally just rented commercially?
