think the battery is getting weak from non use, what recommendations do you have for OEM battery. anyone have part number or know if best to source from main dealer here or go branded aftermarket? rough price?

I use bosch batteries in work. they are very good and come with 3 year warranty. try euro car parts.

I have a BMW one in my car. I’ll send you the part number later for comparison against Bosch.

I went overkill with the specs when I had my M3. Bought a Yuasa 100Ah 900A. Pretty big compared to the original and never let me down. Comes with a 5 year warranty.

The battery part number is covered by a metal clamp so I couldn’t read the number I’m afraid

    Just had a look it's a bosch s5 a13
    Huge battery
    Comes up at 180 gbp
Have put it in ctek charger to see if its works
Or else it's time for new battery
Or else starter could be on way out
    Sounds bit lazy to start

I've used Yuasa 110Ah battery in my 530d's and they were a brute, virtually impossible to kill. Used one in series (upstream) with a 160ah once to fire a Scania once and it was no sweat to it.

Yuasa are in every industrial fork truck in the country for a reason also!

Have you checked the price from a BMW dealer? Try Frank Keane's for the forum discount. They aren't much more expensive than from a motor factors maybe for M cars it's different!? Last couple I bought from main dealer. Also you'll definitely get the correct one needed.

Even with the chassis number the BMW system throws up 4 options for the M3. I have gone for the 80amp for option non AGM. And as above original BMW batteries are not a bad price and look much better.
