    Diagnosis / Coding Device

Looking at getting something cheap and cheerful for doing some basic error reading and coding. Is the Carly still the best / handiest device to go for? Or what else are folk using.

    Models that I'll be using it on E39 / E36 / F25 / E90

I went with INPA, couple of different cables and you’re good to go

If it's just basic fault finding, Carly is the way to go. I have used it a good bit lately, and it's great for monitoring live values via the phone (especially if you have a phone holder in the car!) Carly is now available for other car brands too which I now have access to.

With the Carly, is it a case of pay for the device, app is free and then you have to pay to unlock some in app features? What kind of money are those?

Reading that BimmerCode is a one off payment of £28. Anyone any experience using that?

Is INPA a laptop based system?? How easy is it to operate?

Ideally just looking for the handiest of the phone.

I went for the full version, think it was about €60 at the time so I can code batteries, perform regens, code etc. The dongle was about the same too. I leave it in the glovebox and use when required.

ESys and a enet cable is probably your best best for the "F" series, although I have both and never set it up! Found the coding in Carly great but the error code reading not so much. DIS was great for the E92 for fault finding.

Wow I didn’t realise that! I have mine since late 2017 so I only had to pay a one off fee.

Me too until a recent update and it had become an annual subscription. The version you have is great. The latest one, less so
