That’s crazy. What happens if that causes a service interval on iDrive to go amber or red? Will the dealer/BMW change it back (if that’s even possible) because it’s their fault for not being able to give you a service within a reasonable time period?
Hah - just going through the same experience. Its nuts - can't even get someone at Frank Keanes to asnwer the fcuking phone.
Staff, staff and no staff.
Years of underpaying/mistreating/disrespecting mechanics are starting to bite dealers badly. Lads fleeing the trade to go to work in likes of Intel, big pharma etc. And it’s not just mechanics, same for parts dept people, service advisors/managers.
Also BMW have a stupid amount of recalls at the moment inc another N47 Egr cooler recall for cars they already recalled.

I had a similar experience a while ago on the x5 booking it in for a warranty claim for blocked sunroof drains. I got a date months away and when I pointed out the interior would be ruined by then all I got was a grunt.
Conor had it sorted in a few days and so I didn’t renew the BMW warranty.
Worse, BMW Ireland abdicating their responsibility. When Murphy & Gunn closed their workshop the entire servicing requirement of South County Dublin had to shift to FKNR and the tiny workshop in FK Blackrock. BMW should have immediately sought and secured a dedicated servicing centre in or around Sandyford or somewhere nearby. Even if they would work 2 8 hour shifts a day 6 days a week the existing dealerships just don’t have the capacity.

Fair question. My thinking has been twofold, and impacting by a third factor. There is quite a bit of tech and hardware in the PHEV that there isn’t a huge amount of durability data on yet, and could be costly. I wanted to have a dealer FSH in case any problems in that direction occurred and was pushing for goodwill (anyone around here that was caught up in nikasil or e46 subframe mount/floorpan issues and tried to get goodwill from BMW will recognize why the fsh is important I that regard). Secondly, this car has required very little servicing and so the cost hasn’t really been a factor (this service has more items than usual). The impacting factor is that I hadn’t intended to hold this car for so long, and was keeping the history as a selling point. Brexit, market disruption, etc have meant holding it longer than originally planned.
Wow haven't heard Nikasil mentioned in a while. Dergside was kind enough to assist in my plight with a AUC E36 320i nearly 20 years ago.
I booked mine into my local for a service too and it was a 4 week wait. So its not just the main dealers with long waiting times.
