So I failed the NCT on my airbag light not coming on when the ignition is turned on. I googled a bit and found some folks say it was probably blocked off with tape so I took out the cluster yesterday and cracked it open - no tissue/tape/blocking of any kind. The light doesn't come on and never did, as far as I can remember.
Anybody have some suggested diagnosis steps? I'm just waiting on a cable to fall into my hands
Is it coming on when you start the car in the morning or is there a problem all the time?
Was the car turned off and on within 20 seconds?
I had a sublimation fail a few years ago and there was no issue with the bulb.
Iirc it just needed a more patient tester.
It doesn't come on when I start the car, nor does it come on when I turn on the ignition before starting. It doesn't matter if I've left it seconds, hours or days, I've never seen it come on

Yep, doesn't come on. I also broke the two clips when I took off the cluster so there'll be no dash tests again without the cable & software until I fix them
your airbag light is controled buy one wire from airbag unit, you need to check or minus signal is coming.
Surely the dash light would work during the test though?

I read the code today with INPA and it gives me:
MRS4
81 Fault lamp (AWL)
Error frequency: 1
Error currently present
Short to ground / (Wiring) break
Error not sporadic
Anybody with some ideas? Google isn't being helpful
Led in the cluster might have been destroyed like I have seen a few times before
