E90 timing chain issues

Lads, is the timing chain horror stories read all too often online primarily diesel variants, or are petrols affected just as bad? A friend of mine is viewing a 05/06 E90 320i over the weekend and want to be sure he's informed and armed before making any decisions or indeed agreeing prices.

Yeah, that engine suffers with chain issues. It's the N46b20 which is the same that's in the E46s. I always recommend them getting replaced around the 60000mls mark or if there getting noisy. Not too bad of a price to replace!
