E39 520i refusing to rev

I drove the car, parked it no problem. It sat for 3mths so I hooked up the leads and it started first Turn. The only thing I did between times, I removed the abs unit and now it won't rev past 2500rpm. Any ideas?

Sounds like limp mode or something to that effect. As in the car knows the unit is removed and as a safety feature won't allow any hard driving?

My thinking also but I wouldn't have thought the lack of ABS would cause that.

You have a few of these cars? Surely you could test?

ABS unit won't effect RPM....

Best bet is just get the codes red and see what it says.

My money on the maf sensor. Disconnect it and try again.

I tried that but no joy. I've one I can try on my other 520i. I don't want to get the coded read as it's only to be driven into the garage and stripped but if I could pin point the problem I would know what to and what not to sell.

Throttle body flap stuck. Take off the intake boot and free it up. 2.0 or 2.2 engine?

Its a 2.2l. I had a read of that link mate, just seems like a load of upright mofos, almost as bad as some folk from elsewhere. Lol
