    Dension AVR

    Hi all
I am trying to install the Dension AVR unit (on top of the Dension Gateway unit I have already installed).

I have coded the CAPPL module (application part of CCC module) with the following settings:

    TV_FRONT_ENABLED
    aktiv
    VIDEO_DENY_C0B
    deny_never
    VIDEOMODUL_CCC_B
    ece

The codes above is the equivalent of coding the car with the TV option. I also did the activation by adding $601 to the VO (vehicle order) which is the same thing as changing the code above, it means the TV is retrofitted in code terms.

This Dension AVR unit mimics the OEM TV, it connects in to the DCAN bus using pin 9 & 11 on connector 1 (PINOUT X13812 (1)) allowing the unit to be controlled via the iDrive. Then the video signal is fed in via the pins 2 & 4 on connector 3, (PINOUT X13814 (3)). I have attached a copy of the pinout on the CCC module. Here is the install guide for the AVR. The wiring is actually plug & play with the exception of the ground wire that goes to the handbrake switch:

I have checked all the wiring in the car with a multi-meter & everything is as it should be. I have used the Sat Nav retrofit guide & TV retrofit guide (attached) as an aid to working out what wiring goes where, the wiring all looks to be in order. I even borrowed a brand new Dension AVR unit (thanks Germaniks!) just to prove out that the unit was not faulty. I am beginning to think that the Dension Gateway unit is actually faulty but the Gateway has been working fine as a standalone unit for the past 2 years.
Here is the guide on the Dension Gateway:

Gateway install (this is working for me for past 2 years):

    Here’s my Sat Nav retrofit:

The only thing I’m not sure about now is if the Dension Gateway is faulty. Very frustrating!

    RE: Dension AVR

Hi Mark, turns out one of the car I did over the week-end is having the same issue as you.
When we plug in the ipod it does not show up on the idrive, even the music.
While this ipod is normally installed in another e60 with Dension/AVR where it works fine, so the ipod itself is fine.

I changed the ipod plug, avr, same issue.

If the AVR was actually faulty, as in, not powered up, the iDrive would not actually work at all. Screen even would stay black.

I have sent an email to Dension yesterday, I hope to get an answer by tomorrow.

Here is a MAN file from a car with the original TV tuner (6 series) with CCC as yourself.

    RE: Dension AVR

Thanks, I would be interested in hearing that outcome. I notice that you have:
    VIDEO_DENY_C0B
    deny_stop_break

but I have this set to deny_never. Also I don't have:
    VIDEO_DENY
    deny_never
EDIT: I just noticed the second file doesn't have VIDEO_DENY_C0B or TV_FRONT_ENABLED

I don't think this has anything to do with the issue, just an observation. My FSW_PSW trace file is attached.

    RE: Dension AVR

    Well,
I finally got to the bottom of this issue. Turns out a flash of software version on the original Dension unit resolved everything & now I'm fully multimediaised in the car!
Here is the output form the digital TV tuner:

It has a PVR for live pause & record. You can also view photos on the unit too. I also have a composite input for the iPhone so youtube, netflix, etc. are all possible. You can also watch videos directly stored on the iPod or iPhone.
