I clean my stainless steel exhaust like this:

    1) paraffin to remove soot/tar/crap
    2) Silvo wadding to finish

Some people would use steel wool but it leaves lines imo. I've recently started using meguires metal polish which I find excellent but you still have to remove the tar/soot crap. Above is my most favoured option.

    Autosol was also recommended?

What should I use, just a microfiber?

    Thanks for replies

What grade steel wool? Have used 0000 grade on windscreens before without issue.

Use a rag for paraffin, then the wadding to polish and a clean soft to buff.
You will wreck the microfibre unless its a €2 shop one and ya don't care.

Autosol is overated they are all just mild abrasives.
The best mirror finish apart from a motorised polish comes from silvo and elbowgrease imho. I put alloy wheel sealent on after but it seems to make no difference haha
