Pretty much impossible to compare to be honest! E39 is definitely the best 'all rounder' and a great car for cruising whereas the E36 is sportier and decent enough in the twisties
If i HAD to choose though, E36 hands down because saloons wouldnt be my cup of tea, bar the e90

I'd choose the E39, but thats because I prefer bigger cars. I do appreciate a nice E36, and would have one if money allowed! And I think the majority of people would like one of each!
Having had both for roughly 3 years each id be choosing the e39 all day long e36 is a fantastic car I just prefer my e39 I wouldn't mind an e36 m3 for the summer though
The e36 should win the poll though as there are more e36 owners on site
I'd say any e36 owner would give swap for an M5 any day :happy:

E36 owner but will admit I've a soft spot for an e39 with the m-tech kit .they have a really nice road presence
