6k budget 320d recommed yes or no

A friend of mine has 6k to spend and is looking at a 320d.(something other than a mondeo/passat / avensis or xtype )While I recon my yoke has delivered in spades in my 2.5 years of ownership (e39) I just cannot bring myself to recommend a BMW. While I can fcuk around and tackle most jobs on a car myself, if I were to think of the cost of getting someone to do the the work I have done it wouldn't be practical ownership.
So in short with this budget, 15k yearly milage and no mechanical experience could you recommend a 320d over the above cars. Dynamically bmw there is no contest but purely on a yearly cost and reliability basics do they make sense in this situation. Cheers

No I Defo would not recommend one, a passat or Audi as long as it's not a bk engined car or the 2.0 you'll never have a moments bother

St mondeos look great as well any owners iv ever spoken too say they are a really nice drive

Gar ,we are not talking about history :wink:,every make has its history ,but we talk about these days .
if somebody had one or two cars and wasnt happy ,lets say BMW ,and now they would say they wouldnt go same route again , so i see lot of them and its only one way i would go again !and i see other makes as well . if u get me :wink:

Gar ,for me mondeo is 3 times worst as audi , st diesel its same as 2.0 Msport . real ST is petrol only if we want to mention ST

I know like sline or msport but they look much better and come better spec'd then standard mondeos

I can only give my opinion i like them and would have one over an audi maybe even a 320d i couldn't be responsible for putting another felt spec rs4 tdi on the road

I like the st's for the difference they provide you dont come across many on the roads and that appeals to me
