    E92 325i questions

Just so I have this right in my noggin...

The early 07 325i coupes are 2497cc versus the 08 (LCI model) 2996cc?

    Giving 218bhp/250Nm (2750 - 4250) from the 2497cc engine and 218bhp/270Nm (2400 - 4200) from the 2996cc engine?

Anyone know the exact engine codes? I've a feeling the feedback here is to hold out, and try source the later 2996cc model 325i? However the premium for this in the asking price is astonishing..I don't care about emissions tax versus CC in this instance, however the dealers seem to hence the premium price

I think LCI was in 2010 Ciars. The engine change is similar to the change from 323/328ci to 325/330ci in the e46 before the rest of the the car was facelifted

I haven't driven the 2.5 325 but I drove the 3.0 325 and it feels much quicker than the figures BMW quote. I would hold out to be honest. Better performance, and half the tax. Hard to beat! that said, they seem to be firmly in the region of 16-17k for a sport vs some low mileage 2.5 SE examples for less than half that!

From every 2497 & 2996 model I've found, the running average price differential is a loose €5750 rounded! That's 10 years to recoup for da chaape tax. Now if there is a world of difference in performance, that changes things. Test drives are no doubt the best way to suss that out, just wanted some feedback beforehand from you lot..Where's Eddie...?!

Here's a good example of the price differential between the two engine variants and CC versus Emissions tax (€6k!)

This is true but I think some of the price difference is due to the 60k odd miles between them as well. There was a black sport with beige lesther and idrive for 13k but it had 118k miles... Did you see many other 3.0L 325s? I know beshoff's have an e93 with 37k miles due in January but that's 19k. Couple of other verts but not many coupes.

Fak all to be fair, and probably only 1 that is worth a viewing. If I don't see anything in the trade in stock in January, I'll probably just hold off another 6 months. Doing this out of sheer boredom with the trusty E46 and don't really fancy a marque change yet.

Good few 2.5 SE last time I checked but yes mostly feck all you'd want to buy.

Yep Shane, a lot of SE spec and a good few diesels now starting to pop up. But a decent 6 pot petrol in M Sport guise is proving hard to source..you can blame Gormley and co for that back in 2008
