All I'll say is never buy cheap tools, buy cheap buy twice adage holds true. However cheap tools can break easy & you can hurt yourself.

I use a mix of EBay/Online reputable sellers only, not necessarily the cheapest, local tool shops, motor factors & DIY stores.

Any links for the online variety? Have been scanning through a few Irish sites today.

My stuff is a mix of Snap-On/BluePoint, Teng and others. I have a number for a tool-man that does reasonably priced tools if anybody is in need

If you want good beating tools for small money like spanners, ratchet spanners and ratchet extensions then Tool Mate work pretty well and offer a wide selection. If your looking for robust tools that have moving parts like 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets then spend decent money as they will last you a life time. The high end brands offer life time warranty etc.

Draper Professional do reasonable products, Ferax (under Teng tools) offer excellent value for money and I can vouch for the Ferax 1/4" and 1/2" ratchet and socket sets as mine have taken awful abuse. Even using a hammer on the 1/2" ratchet many times it has never failed. Its not advisable however to use this method but sometimes needs must. A good breaker bar is invaluable.

Ferax are available through good Motor Factors.

    Hope this helps,
