The 1M does nothing for me, it looks good and sure it's probably a hoot to drive and I've tried to like it but it still triggers no desire from me at all.

As much as I love the CSL, I'd pick a 1M, think they are class!
1M for 2 reasons, manual gearbox and more compact dimensions.
M badge to my mind has been watered down a bit to be a bit of a pastiche in recent years, imho. This doesn't impact the CSL but there probably isn't a current M model that is rated higher than its obvious rivals at the moment by the car mags whose opinions I'd value or trust. That's a bit of a shame really.
