    BMW 330e - the new 320d on Ireland's roads?

    Has anyone else seen this?

    250bhp, €170 tax, up to 150mpg (on battery), Price: SE: €41k, Sport: €41.5k, Luxury: €44.5k M Sport: €45k

I'm not a man to buy a new car, but that looks seriously tempting - especially in sport form with 18s - it's cheaper than the equivalent 316d! There is also the possibility to remap the engine as it's fundamentally the same as the 320i so decent gains should be possible.

Has this hit anyone elses radar?

There's a long running thread over on boards.ie on the 330e:

Seems to be a to be a good option.

These will be a no brainer to buy, whether new or second hand. I'm looking at an f31 to replace the x5. Sadly the 330e won't be available in touring form from launch, if it was if be sorely tempted to stretch to a new car to get it.

I've just read the boards thread, ta. I was trying to calculate residuals and there seems to be quite a varying opinion on what the cars will be worth in 3 years. BMW PCP estimate somewhere around 22k which I think is far too low. The Irish values will be boosted by the cheap tax and running costs, but they won't necessarily be hugely boosted in the UK as there are only really company car incentives there for the 330e. Any opinions what a 330e Sport with 18s, leather & sub 50k kms would be worth in 3 years? My guesstimate is in the region of €30k looking at 320d values but who knows..

A lower future value from BMW is what you want on the PCP - your equity is the difference between this amount and the market value.

€70k is too much on a family car IMHO

Sure I get that. I'd be considering buying without PCP too if there was much wiggle room. I imagine they would crucify me on part-ex though so I'd probably have to go private sale route.

I reckon choosing such a conspicuous location was deliberate. So as to appeal to the tree huggers could have it on obvious display.
