    Particle Filter Additive...Tank Empty?

Looking for some help and clarity on the following...
A warning light has came on in a 2010 Mini Cooper 1.6D (girlfriends car). The warning light is 'Particle Filter Additive Tank Empty'. Can someone shed some light/info on this as I've never encountered it before, not to mention hearing about it?
Can an indepenent garage sort this or will it be a main dealer job?

    Cheers folks,
    Sean

It's the Eolys? fluid used in conjunction with the DPF, fitted to diesel engines for emissions purposes to make them run cleaner and adhere to the Euro 5 and above standard. It should in theory be a case of refill, reset DPF system, clear computer codes and away you go.

I'd say tyre spot on Ciars. Lots of new diesels are being shipped with the AdBlue/Eolys system. Definitely need to top this up and reset the system.
