Sterling bank draft is what I've used in the past. What are you picking up?

Lovely! The sis got herself something similar recently. Coming from an E64... a '15 A6 in White. S-Line Black Edition - well put together motor, very impressed with the level of spec inside - best of luck

What's the plans for the E90?

i have used transfer mate for 2 recent purchases from the UK. They seem to transfer funds twice a day, so they generally clear the recipients account at around 11am & 2pm (providing its a weekday). My advice would be travel over the night before & be at the garage early in the morning to give the car the full once over. Once you are happy you can instruct the like of transfer mate or currency wise before 10am to send funds & you should be on the road before lunch

thanks for all the input lads - looks like it will be a bank draft

Think i'll hang on to the E90 for a while Ciars - its too good to sell - sisters car sounds lovely; this ones that graphite grey colour with 20k miles on it

on a separate note - how does insurance generally work, i wonder will my open drive cover me on it for the return journey / VRT journeys

Re: insurance, I called my company and they did a transfer onto the UK reg and gave me a temp. disc for 30 days and no more. After that, they want the Irish reg details.

Just check the garage you are dealing with is happy to take a draft, as they take 3 - 5 working days to clear once lodged.
