E39 can't turn heat off inside?

As above, no matter what I adjust the temperatures too it just stays putting out hot air. I assume it's the climate control unit at fault?

It's probably the final stage resistor (hedgehog)

I thought it only caused the fan not to work?

When mine was playing up it caused the fan to speed up on its own and eventually the fan wouldn't switch itself off even with the key removed, im sure someone else can confirm if it would cause your problem but I think it controls all the heating stuff

I'm pretty sure the FSU only controls fan function

The stepper motor that controls the heat route vent sounds like it won;t or can't move. I've seen heat flaps stuck with jelly tots, wine gums, toy soldiers etc

I'm assuming the blue to red dial on the top middle outlet is being used??

Yea I've tried messing with it too but makes no odds

Is the motor or the flaps hard to get to? I really don't want pulling the dash or anything

Depends on if the car has automatic air con or manual, if you take the strip of carpet on the drivers side of the centre console, and the lower dash cover (under the steering column, but just above your feet) you should be able to see both the FSU and the flap control motors (this is an auto air con anyway)

Easier with the seat out, but possible if you'r reasonably flexible with it in

After a bit of searching, it seems theres a heater valve in the engine bay. Going to try changing it first and see!
