If you've xenons (you probably do) go white on the Halos, otherwise they look daft with yellow halogens. I know what you mean about the dip's especially - they can be brutally short on E39's and when the adjusters break they are often set "safe to pass the nCt" low.
Polish the len's if it's going off (there are a few write ups here on the forum that have done it on e39 and other models) and give it a coat of UV protective clear coat, upgrade the bulbs and sort the adjusters, I bought a set of adjusters from e-bay and they were surprisingly good. Then see how they are doing.
