For sale is my Fern Green 1998 318is
I’ve had this car almost 3 years and have decided to move it on now as I have something else planned.
The car was originally a UK car imported to Ireland in 2006.
It has been my daily driver since I bought it in Nov 2013.
It hasn’t been abused like many E36’s.
Mileage is high-ish at 190K but the engine is still very strong.
Car is taxed until end Jan 2017 and NCT to Oct 2017
Since I have had the car the following has been done (working from memory here so there may be more).
• New CCV fitted to inlet
• New AFM to throttle body piping
• New rocker cover gasket
• New thermostat (old one stuck open)
• New pollen filter
• New heater resistor (hedgehog)
• Lollipop bushes replaced with poly bushes
• New Fuel filter
• RTAB bush replaced (RHS)
• New flexi brake lines front and rear
• New solid brake lines in the rear (over the fuel tank)
• Front lower ball joint replaced (RHS).
• Anti-roll bar drop links (just replaced for a 2nd time last week)
• New outer track rods and new inner steering arms
• Rear upper shock mount.
• New Bosch Lamda sensor (2014)
• New CAT (2015)
I could see from condition that before I got the car the radiator had been replaced plus the small plastic coolant fitting at the back of the head.
In my use the car has been returning roughly 37mpg average – which to me makes these cars the perfect balance between power, handling and economy for a daily driver.
Mechanically the car is great.
Body wise the car is very good. The paint work could do with a good compound and polish (I’m not really one for polishing). This is the ideal car for those into detailing.
As can be seen from the pics the paint is lifting on the bonnet and bumper. At some point in the past the front seems to have been painted and the earlier grill fitted. (No crash damage to the car though)
Bit of cracking around the boot lid lock mounting internally (usual issue with these)
The steering wheel is worn on top – but I have another one here to fit (same type) which is untorn.
I have a new RTAB bush for the LHS which is probably going to need replacement soon (I may get to this before sale)
New tyres fitted to rear last year. Fronts OK – probably another 6K miles left on them.
SOLD
