Just googled and one person took a wheel off went in at it from inside the wheel well. So I's sorta confused. If the wrong bulb is sourced, could one end up with different light brightness on each side? I'd say the M is the same as the pre-LCI coupe.

The M has the same front as the coupe but I think you can get to it from the top/behind rather then from below.

Sorry, should have been clearer, yes access is from the top down.

    Here's the bulb, #8 in the diagram 07 11 9 906 503:

Here's a "how to" to replace it:

Brill, well done sir. I'd say a bit tight in there getting the bulbs back in.

Appear to be around the £18 mark on Amazon. Was thinking if it was worth changing to a LED setup? Obviously would have to change the two. And probably be a lot more expensive.

That’s what I would do. I got the MTEC ones for my M6. Four years later still going strong, no CAN Bus errors either.

Strangely, the system didn't alert me that a bulb had failed so possibly no can bus error in that regard. Was wondering if the system would react though.

The hids-direct seem to be out of stock. The link you sent would suit the M?

Saw these and although a bigger power rating, whats teh difference? Appears to be some additional ballast or resistor module to go along with it?

    :-)

just searched and cheaper on Amazon:

Is 7000k not tooooo bright? Can u still see the ring shape or will it be washed out by the brighter light?

Higher wattage means brighter, I would get as bright as you can buy. Just double check with a quick Google to ensure that the higher wattage won’t burn out the wiring or FRM module. Hopefully not an issue but worth checking.

Keanes have standard bulbs in stock for €21 + VAT. Fitting €30 but might have to book a slot.

Re the MTEC LED replacements (and apologies if I'm running dumb here), but both Hids and Amazon indicate that those are for E90 and E91. Granted, the M is an E90 but has the front of an E92.

Second question is, the standard H8 is in some sort of L-shaped mount and it appears that a replacement comes the same way.

The rear of the MTEC has two flat pins...

so I'm assuming that after removing the bulb unit from the light housing on the car, the bulb can just be pulled from its socket and the LED unit will go straight in?

TBH, on my E92 I tried a few different variants of lights for the angel eyes. Never looked right imo, so just went back to the stock bulbs.
