E92 M3 is special car indeed and very likely future classic (yes I’m biased - I have one)

Good luck with the hunt Peter.

The e92 M3 is indeed that bit special.
Get the DCT and EDC if you can.

Word of caution on the ‘08 tax thing.
    Do your homework...

Other thing is CCC sucks, and you'll probably want to face lift the tail lights.

When you factor that in, the €500 per year more to tax a facelift car starts to make more sense.

My E39 M5 was €1500 to insure because no one wanted to insure it as it was over 10 years old and I didn't want the mileage restriction of classic policy.

Insuring a late reg E92 M3 is about €900 for me, so the savings in insurance completely offset the road tax increase.

Add a cost of about 2k to facelift it (maybe not a factor for you) the facelift cars start to make a bit of sense.

    Lastly, two words, mineral white

Exactly. the nonsense tax begins to be justifiable at this stage! I'm a month in a diesel F10 and I'm eyeing up M5s

They're a car, they'll depreciate pretty much like any other car or predecessor for a good few years yet.

That’s not quite true. A friend of mine bought a Uk reg 8 series last year which had been in the country a while. He had to pay a penalty. The penalty was based on the amount of time the car was last taxed in the UK (it had expired 4 months previous to him buying it) and when he brought it in to pay the VRT

Agree. This is the situation most of the time based on experience.

if he has letter with date he bought it ,and if this date is not date as tax expired ,how they can prove this? so if somebody will buy car from - shed , few years out of tax ? how they can give it few years penalty ?

Having bought a uk registered 08 manual white m3 in 2018 and getting stung for €9720 vrt at the time.I would definitely suggest buying one here.My car was registered before June 08 so it has the €1800 tax.If it’s after July I think it goes up to €2300.I would definitely be buying on condition only.Ive done the rod bearings as a precaution and replaced the throttle actuators with bmw ones but I’ve also pretty much rebuilt the whole underside of the car because I wanted it 100% and I can tell you the price of the parts for these is absolutely eye opening. And if you want to mod it with quality parts your about to get a bigger eye opener. The e46 m3 i had before this is a cheap car to run compared to these.Go in with your eyes open and your wallet.Still a great car to drive and the sound it makes is epic.
