E60 520D Diesel Fumes Smell From Engine - Oil Leak?

Ah shite - sorry to hear that ! What's the engine's history out of curiosity - mileage/maintenance/type of driving etc. ?

Chain replaced in early 2020 (not under my ownership) I got receipts from reputable garage to back this up at purchase, but may have been a cheap kit. Just turned 200,000 klms. Oil change in early 2020, early 2021 and I did an oil change when I got the car also in December. Not sure of the history previous to 2020 however, all I have are various receipts for oil/filter etc here and there.

I am 5 mins off the M50 and travel 20/30 mins each way on motorway every day and a bit more at the weekend.

Chain snapped, bent some tappets and camshaft. No damage to crank or block, should have it back later this week all going well.
