    Thats a most definte yes! Id be driving a prius if that was the case. Strangely enough, the M3 and Clubsport i had used to get far better mileage, must be due to more modern engines etc. I do push her on, but sure isnt that the point :happy:

    328i with original 5 speed and 3.15 diff ratio : in fifth @ 100kph would sit at 2656rpm

    328i with an EVO box using it's six speed gear (0.83 ratio) and 3.15 diff ratio: @100kph would sit at 2204rpm


    Not sure it's worth the hassle but there you have it. I've seen the odd discussion on the US forums pop up of people using e46 6 speed box's from the like of 330i's and M3's and using them in e36's, what this involves I really don't know but the ratio of the sixth gear is the same as that of an e36 evo box.

    DaveMsport on driver has done it afaik.
