    Merc Wheel Question

    Guys, I have a 2002 ML W163 Model.
    I have the OEM 17" wheels on it. They are 8J x 17" ET52.

I got a set of OEM 19" Merc wheels that are 8Jx19" ET60. Will I have problems with the different offset?

My car is the W163 model (98-05).
The 19" wheels are from the newer W164 model (06-onwards).

    RE: Merc Wheel Question

Some Merc Wheels will require different length wheel bolts.
They don't all use the same.

I know the W221 S-Class (2006 on) use longer bolts for an 18" wheel compared to a 17" wheel. (Both factory options)

    RE: Merc Wheel Question

    Hit a snag today!
Needs 20mm spacers and longer wheel bolts than we had available today to clear the brake calipers!
Should have them fitted next week.

    RE: Merc Wheel Question

Just to clarify incase of a future search.

    I have a 2002 ML 270 CDi, facelift version with the OEM 255 60 R17 ET52 wheels.

    I picked up a set of 19" W164 wheels with the 255 50 R19 tyres and ET60.

When trying to fit them they wouldnt clear the brake calipers by a long shot.
Turned out I had to use 20mm hub centric spaces and 80mm bolts with about a 60mm thread length on them. These were sufficient to get 7 good full twists by hand and then tightened a bit more.

I took some pics but please excuse the quality.

I hope this helps someone searching in the future.

    Before (OEM)

New wheels from W164 280 CDi

    Spacers used (5x112x20mm thick)

    Bolts used

Finished (needs good wash and polish I know, but I drive into building sites most days and today was no different!)
