Wait till you start getting to the other end!! They'll start wanting you to be younger.

My insurance went up by €255 on the M6, sickening.

Somehow I think we'll never beat the insurance companies 👎

Absolute craziness that the longer you are on the road claim-free the more your renewal seems to cost each year

    Makes sense 🤔

Same thing happened to me when I bought the 530d last September - they wouldn't insure me on this car as I wasn't 30 but at the time I was driving a M3..go figure...ended up cancelling my policy and went with an Post..was still 300 quid dearer than my last premium even though 5er was younger, less powerful and probably safer than my e46 M3

That's what I fear may happen with me also 👎

Did you get any refund from insurance when you cancelled?

How do you find An Post as an insurer? Do they offer any sort of third party extension as I never seem to be in the same car 😂

Yeah I got about 250 back and that policy had started in May. They're pretty good, underwritten by AIG and yes I have third party extension!

That's great as they were the cheapest quote I found yesterday, only about 300 more than I was paying on the OPC. If it comes to it I'll give them a call and see what the story is. Thanks for that info man

    The car is a 08 bmw 520d Msport (177bhp).

I was told that liberty will not insure anyone under 30 in this model as it's a high performance car (the previous car I had insured with them was 240bhp - with zero issues).

They have said that if I send on a copy of the log book they will see what they can do but somehow I don't hold out much hope.

Just wondering if any of you guys on here have had any issues similar and what did you do to rectify the problem?

    I'm 26 with full NCB.

    Thanks in advance

I had the same problem. Mine is a 2009 520d m sport and am 24 with 5 years no claims and couldnt get a decent quote from anyone. I was with FBD at the time and they couldnt even quote me and was insured in a 2005 530d the year before for 850euro. I eventually got a quote from Aviva through a broker for 1200 which was by far the best i could get anywhere. The insurance in this country is a joke

That is madness that they would give you such a great quote on the 530 and not insure you on the 520!

    Insurance is so maddening 😔
