I've been looking in the UK as 6 cyl petrol cars in my budget are few and far between on these shores.

Last week found a 2014 428i in the UK at what seemed like very good money, lined up the RAC to look at it but subsequently found out it was Cat S

Today came across a 2009 E93 330i at decent money and the VRT is small so considering having RAC check it out but as I've never driven one I'm looking for feedback - can definitely sound good with a decent exhaust and I've always wanted a cab and I've read they are pretty quick but at the end of the day I've still never driven one.
You don't mention budget.

428i won't meet your need for cylinders - 4 pot.

The car jumping out at me that meets your criteria would be an M135i - 3 or (more likely) 5 door, right road tax category, 6 pot, a bit bigger than the MINI, etc. They've been around since 2012 so plenty of choice to match a range of budget. If you really need a coupe an M235i would just scrape in under the CO2 limit for €750 road tax.
