    I don't think I've ever had a BMW with a handbrake like a Japanese appliance. I think it would probably be a waste. I always leave the car in gear on a hill and turn the wheel against the kerb. Save the penny's for petrol I'd say!

    I have a very good handbrake in the e36 and same when i had the e39. The 630i is pain useless, no matter what I do.
    For both the e36 and e39 I did change the handbrake shoes with the discs (& pads), the shoes are pricey for what they are!! (I got OEM ones at the time).
