Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Was the car remapped or modified in any way?

Was the car a UK import or an Irish car?

While I agree with what you're saying, all I can do is what they have agreed to which is a new engine block and everything swapped from the old engine to the new one. It's coming with a 2 year warranty on parts and labour so if what you're suggesting happens then I'm covered.

Cheers man. Nope, not remapped or modified apart from BimmerCoding things like lights, logos etc. in the cabin.

    It's an original Irish car.

Thanks for that. I thought as much given that remapping wasn't even a question that was asked by BMW Ireland/UK before they offered the new engine under goodwill.

Picking up the car tomorrow thank God.

Having never owned a brand new car, anyone have tips for the run-in of a new engine?

It's all in the owners manual. Congrats on the new engine.

As well as being a bit gentle with it for a couple of k km's I'd suggest that an oil change at 1500km and again at 3k would be money well spent. After that, go double the CBS oil change frequency for as long as you have it.

Good to check the filter after the first couple of changes to check for any metal particles. I’d say it’s nice to have it back, happy motoring!

Agreed, not explicitly stated but I assumed that oil and filter would be changed together. I'm not sure I've ever changed oil without a filter change too.

    Likewise - it's a no-brainer considering it's only an additional €10 to €20.....

Only exception being the track-bike as the volume of oil going through it would be minimal between oil changes.
